Even young people are not immune from a disease: Especially in the age group of 11 to 14-year-olds, more than half of the population is affected. The most common cause of back pain in children is seen by physicians in blocking (dysfunction) of individual spinal areas. This is caused by heavy school bags, too much use of media or a lack of movement.

In adults, the workplace plays an important role in back pain. A survey of employed persons showed that both men (40 per cent) and women (45 per cent) complained about pain in the lower back almost as often, while women (58 per cent) increased pain in the neck and shoulder area than men (37 per cent ) To suffer. Due to the complaints, many incapacity for work is caused annually - almost half of the cases are related to the diagnosis of back pain.

The causes of back pain are usually due to a one-sided load, long sitting and maladjustments. Other triggers are also possible:

For only the fewest ones are specific back pain, caused, for example, by a herniated disc. Since the causes of back pain can often be found in everyday life, those affected can become active themselves.

Anyone who sits long at the desk should set up their workspace ergonomically; a back-friendly chair as well as the correct height of the table and the appropriate distance to the screen are important.

➜ Bend and lift correctly

In doing so, never lift from the back. For lifting heavy loads better go to the knees and hold the back straight.

➜ Relaxation method

In the case of tension, but also to relieve stress, soothing massages, yoga or autogenic training are recommended.

If, despite all the preventive measures, back pain occurs, those affected do not have to go to the doctor immediately. A doctor's visit is usually required if the back pain persists or the discomfort worsens. The physician will make an accurate examination and diagnosis before recommending appropriate therapy.
